Virtual learning for your children can be both exciting and educational. At TLC Virtual Academy we encourage children to have fun and enjoy what they learn. That’s why this Thanksgiving we want to share a few fun virtual Thanksgiving activities that can help your child learn and grow.
Online Writing Activity- What Are You Thankful For?
This writing activity is low pressure and allows for children to truly express themselves and positively reflect on what they are grateful for and why, during this year’s pandemic. As they write what they are grateful for, they can also create doodles next to what they write down for more added fun.
After each person is done with their list, have them share their thoughts and illustrations with each other. If there are ESL students in the group, this is a perfect opportunity to learn more about different cultures.
Virtual History Activities-Thanksgiving Around the World
Create an interactive PowerPoint lesson to help children learn about the different versions of Thanksgiving globally and how each country celebrates Thanksgiving around the world. Create a Venn diagram for the children to view and explore the similarities and differences from each country.
Virtual Storytelling via Zoom
It’s easy to play this game because children have a mind filled with fun scenes from a story they already made up in their heads. Begin this fun online storytelling game by choosing one child to start the story with a sentence (or you can start the story in order to help facilitate), then go around the “virtual circle” making sure you announce when the story will end so that the last child to speak can create the closing sentence.
Ideally there should be someone recording the virtual call via zoom and taking notes of the story in order to read it out loud in the end!
